Bicyclist killed in NE Houston hit-and-run

HOUSTON – A bicyclist was killed Friday night after a hit-and-run in northeast Houston, Harris County Sheriff's deputies said. 

The accident was reported at 11 p.m. in the 6900 block of East Freeway.

After striking the rear side of the bicycle, the driver fled the scene in a red SUV or pick-up truck, deputies said. 

Officials said the impact could have caused damaged to the front right side of the suspect's vehicle.

The victim's identity has not been released.
