Downtown municipal court to reopen Monday after sustaining damage during Hurricane Harvey

HOUSTON – All court services will resume Monday at the Herbert W. Gee Municipal Courthouse at 1400 Lubbock St. downtown.

All services, including, judge trials, jury trials, arraignments, bonding, notary and weddings will resume.

All defendants, witnesses and jurors are asked to arrive to court as indicated on their court notices.

Defendants who had court appointments while the court was closed from Aug. 25 through Saturday, will have until 5. p.m. Sept. 29 to come in person to request a reset.

Kingwood and Clear Lake locations will cease operating daily and return to their regular one day a week schedule (Kingwood on Wednesdays and Clear Lake on Thursdays).

The closure of the Gee Courthouse was necessary to make repairs after the building received extensive flood damage caused by Hurricane Harvey. Repairs to the basement are ongoing.

Deferred payment and bond administration services previously available on the basement level have been relocated to the first floor.
