HOUSTON – With thousands of flooded homes across the Houston area in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, the Harris County Flood Control District said it is preparing for an increase in requests for its home buyout program.
The district said it is working with state and federal government officials to obtain more funding to remove homes from flood-prone areas.
A phone line has been opened to take calls and register homeowners who are interested in a home buyout. The number is 713-684-4020.
HCFCD has also been collecting Notice of Voluntary Interest forms from homeowners interested in the buyout program, if funding becomes available.
