Greatwood residents come together to prevent erosion near pump station

HOUSTON – When residents heard that an area of erosion was forming near a pump station on the Brazos River levee, they took matters into their own hands to help with prevention.

The area was noticed Aug. 30.

Engineers, operators, Fort Bend County and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers looked into the erosion, but determined that it was surface erosion that needed to be addressed, but was not a critical concern.

When residents heard this, they rushed into action.

Sand and sand bags were delivered to the site and a call went out to residents to assist in filling and packing the area.

The community pitched in to help their neighbors.

There are photos of the community assistance at greatwooddistricts.com.

Residents know the fix is temporary, but expect it to be enough to help until a permanent solution is discovered.
