HPD officer injured when 18-wheeler strikes patrol car blocking flooded road
HOUSTON – A Houston police officer is recovering after an 18 wheeler rammed into the back of a patrol car in west Harris County Friday night.
According to police, the officer was on the Katy Freeway blocking the Eldridge Parkway exit ramp because of high waters. Around 11:15 p.m. police say an 18-wheeler ran into the back of the patrol car.
The office was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. He was later released.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was taken into custody.
Police say they will be testing to see if alcohol played a factor in the crash.
KPRC will provide updates when they become available.
