HOUSTON – Several buildings in the Theater District had water penetration and were damaged after being flooded during Hurricane Harvey over the weekend in Houston.

Perryn Leech, the chair member of Theater District Houston board, and Theater District Houston CEO Kathryn McNeil announced the damages Monday.

The Wortham Theater Center at 501 Texas Avenue suffered water penetration into the front of house areas due to low-level flooding. The theater’s surface stage was damaged and the basement was completely flooded.

The rehearsal room in Jones Hall at 615 Louisiana Street had suffered water damage.

The lobby area of the Alley Theater at 615 Texas Avenue and Hubbard Theater sustained no water damage. The Neuhaus Theatre and lobby areas were filled with water and all electrical systems for both theaters were underwater.

The Hobby Center at 800 Bagby Street suffered some water penetration in Zilkha Hall through the loading dock area.

The Theater District garages were filled with water on all levels and were completely unusable.

Officials will continue to monitor the buildings to update their conditions.
