Clarice Brito Ferreira wrote on the post, “In the midst of so much disaster and bad news after bad news, we allowed the kids to have a little fun in the rain.”

Ferreira, who says in her Facebook bio that she’s also a teacher at Humble ISD, noted in her post that kids are resilient.

“The beautiful thing about little ones is that their spirits can NOT and WILL NOT be broken,” she wrote. “We will rebuild, these are the children we grow in Houston! We are ok!”

The photo is one of 11 others that Ferreira posted.

KPRC 2 spoke with the photographer. She said she took the photos to give Houston hope.

"Our children absorb everything, but not this water," she said. "Our city is underwater, but there's hope because of (our children). As long as my kids are ok, I’m ok."

"Our cars, our schools are underwater, but our children’s spirits cannot be broken," she said. "They won’t be flooded. They’re the future, and they’re the reason we are going to rebuild and come back stronger."
