PORTER, Texas – A woman was killed Monday when a tree fell onto her mobile home in Porter, officials said.

The incident was reported about 11:35 a.m. at FM 1314 and Louis Lane.

Investigators said Lisa Jones, 60, was sleeping when the 36-inch oak tree crashed into the home.

Montgomery County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace James Metts said the tree likely fell as a result of the soft soil and the tree's shallow roots.

Authorities said this is the second time a tree has fallen on a person in as many days. A man in Cut and Shoot was injured about 1 p.m. when a tree fell on him in his backyard.
