Two men found dead in vacant apartment in NW Harris County, deputies say

HOUSTON – Harris County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a double homicide Sunday in northwest Harris County.

Deputies said two men were found dead at 2:30 a.m. in a vacant apartment in the 9000 block of Jones Road.

Sergeant Cedrick Collier said a resident was walking his dog and noticed the door to a vacant unit was opened. He opened the door and discovered two men.

Deputies said both of the men were in their late teens to early 20s and had been shot multiple times.

News of the double homicide spread throughout the complex.

"I'm pretty speechless at this point. I knew that a couple was in the process of moving probably about a month, a month and a half ago but I hadn't seen anybody up there at all so it was kind of shocking to hear that somebody was up there," a resident said.

Suspect information, as well as the identity of the two men, is unknown.

"Right now we are just asking residents if they heard anything, if they saw anything, or (saw) suspicious activity in the area. If they have surveillance cameras, to contact Harris County Homicide," Collier said. "It’s very early in the investigation and we don’t have any suspects at this time, so we need the public’s help. If they saw suspicious activity in the area or someone might have knocked on the door or saw people in the area that they know don’t live here, call us and give us those leads."

HCSO Homicide and Crime Scene detectives are investigating.

Anyone with information is asked to call Houston Crime Stoppers at (713) 222-TIPS (8477) or the Harris County Sheriff's Office Homicide Division at (713) 274-9200.
