Panhandler holding sign shot in northwest Houston

No arrests in shooting

HOUSTON – Houston police are looking for the person who shot a panhandler in the chest in northwest Houston late Monday night.

Witnesses told police that a man was standing in the median at West Tidwell near Antoine with a cardboard sign, asking for money.

A silver four-door vehicle pulled up, then someone inside shot the man.

He was taken to a hospital and is expected to survive.

So far, police don't have any suspects. They are checking surveillance video from a nearby gas station.
