Couple jumps to safety from second story window of burning home

A couple in northwest Harris County are alive after jumping from a window as their house burned Sunday morning.

According to officials with the Cy-Fair Fire Department, the home located near the intersection of Maple Brook Lane and Wemys Bay Road caught fire around 5 a.m.

Fire officials the husband and wife jumped from their second-story bedroom window to escape the flames.

They were unharmed.

When firefighters arrived, smoke and flames could be seen. They were able to contain the fire without any additional issues or injuries.

The fire damaged the back of the home and the attic.

The Harris County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
