HOUSTON – Police are investigating after a man was shot in the chest Friday while sitting in his car in southwest Houston, police said.

Detectives said the man in his 40s was shot at about 8:45 p.m. in the parking lot of a shopping center near the intersection of South Loop West and Stella Link Road.

Police said the victim still had his cell phone and wallet with him.

The man was rushed to a hospital and, according to investigators, is expected to survive.

Police said they hope surveillance footage from the business will lead them to the shooter.
