Woman survives after being hit twice on Westheimer at Hayes, police now say

Police look for second driver

HOUSTON – A woman, who police initially said had been killed, has survived after being hit by two vehicles Wednesday near Westchase.

The crash was reported just after 6:30 a.m. on Westheimer near Hayes.

Police said the driver of a red Toyota went through a green light and hit the woman as she crossed the street in a crosswalk. The driver stopped to help.

Witnesses told investigators that another vehicle also hit the woman but did not stop.

The woman was taken to Ben Taub Hospital, where she underwent surgery. She was listed in critical condition.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
