SWAT standoff near Missouri City ends peacefully

MISSOURI CITY, Texas – A four-hour SWAT team standoff Tuesday near Missouri City ended peacefully, police said.

Officers were called around 6:30 p.m. to a home in the 16300 block of Morning Quail Court after family members reported that the son of a man with Alzheimer's threatened them.

Police said the son who has been caring for his father lives with his father in the home.

A SWAT team was called in to assist when the man barricaded himself and his father inside the home.

Police said robots were sent in, but officers couldn't see much because there was so much damage inside the home.

Members of the SWAT team entered the house when they became concerned for the father.

Police say the son was found in the bathtub, tearing holes in the walls. His father was not injured, police said.

The son was taken in for a mental evaluation.
