Dozens displaced after huge apartment fire in Nassau Bay

NASSAU BAY, Texas – A firefighter was taken to a hospital and dozens of people were displaced after a fire broke out Sunday at an apartment complex in Nassau Bay.

The fire broke out around 9 p.m. at the Aero On Upper Bay Apartments in the 18200 block of Upper Bay Road.  Investigators said they believe a propane tank explode igniting the fire.

Firefighters found flames shooting from the roof of one of the buildings.

One firefighter was taken to the hospital after suffering heat exhaustion. Police said all of the residents made it out safely. The displaced residents packed the rental office as they waited to hear if their homes had been destroyed.

The flames were extinguished just before 3:30 a.m.

The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing.
