Salvador Dali's body to be exhumed

Late painter subject to paternity test

Late surrealist painter Salvador Dali

Late painter Salvador Dali's body is to be exhumed to gather DNA samples for a paternity test, according to the BBC.

The woman, Maria Pilar Abel Martínez, claims her mother, a maid, had an affair with Dali in 1955 and she was subsequently born in 1956.

If Martínez is found to be the artist's daughter, she could use his surname and be entitled to part of his estate.

The judge who ordered the exhumation says there are no personal objects or biological remains that could be used to gather the proper samples.

Dali died in 1989 at the age of 85.
