Police need help finding purse-snatcher

Metro police officers are asking the public for information about a man who robbed a woman's purse last month.

Police said the robbery happened around 5:45 a.m. on May 2 while the woman was waiting to catch a train in the 4600 block of Harrisburg Boulevard.

Police said the woman was leaning against a fence with a purse strapped across her body. A man approached her and grabbed the purse, causing the strap to hit her nose and her wrist to hit a fence.

The man ran away with the purse.

Police are describing the robber as a black man with a goatee who was wearing glasses and an earring in his right ear.

He is around 6 feet tall and weighs around 140-160 pounds.

Officers said he was wearing a baseball cap, a dark hooded sweatshirt and dark shorts.

He was seen driving an orange Hyundai Santa Fe or Tucson.

Crime Stoppers is offering an award for information on the man.
