FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – A 34-year-old man was arrested after stealing a truck and starting a police chase in Fort Bend County on Monday, according to authorities.
Laderius Deshawn Jackson is accused of stealing a vehicle from 15050 Beechnut Street around 3:55 p.m., authorities said.
According to reports from the scene of the theft, Jackson was involved in a heated argument with his mother over money.
During the argument, a good Samaritan attempted to stop the argument, but instead became involved in a fight with Jackson.
"A good Samaritan walked over to see if she needed any help," Lt. David Brantley, with the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office, said.
When a second person attempted to stop the fight, Jackson jumped in that person's truck and left the scene.
Deputies attempted to stop Jackson, but he instead led authorities on a chase, according to authorities.
The stolen vehicle was struck by a Fort Bend County deputy and then hit a parked car, authorities said.
No injuries were reported.
The chase ended near Beechnut Street and Manzano Drive.
