HOUSTON – Four children, including 1-year-old twins, a 5-year-old and a 6-year-old, lived in an apartment littered with syringes and crystal methamphetamine, according to Harris County officials.

Skarleth Nunez, 24, and Anna Torres, 23, are charged with endangering a child.

The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office said they were called to the 300 block of North Vista Drive after a report of a man attempting to break in to the apartment. Authorities believe that man is the boyfriend of one of the apartment’s residents. He was not found at the scene.

Deputies said when they spoke with one of the residents, they saw baggies, syringes and other drug paraphernalia on the floor. Authorities said the children had "unfettered access" to the syringes and the methamphetamine.

Nunez and Torres remain in the Harris County Jail. Their bails are set at $2,000. Additional charges related to drug possession are pending following the release of test results, according to Precinct 4.
