Masked men use sledgehammer to break into southeast Houston gas station

HOUSTON – Two men are on the run Wednesday after they used a sledgehammer to smash through the wall of a gas station in southeast Houston, police said.

Police said the men, one with a mask, another with a fake beard, broke through the brick wall and crawled into the store in the 6900 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard around 3:30 a.m.

The men tried to get into an ATM, and when they were unsuccessful they broke open the cash register. With no cash inside, the men got away with coins.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
