Kellogg's to begin laying off 220 employees, close its Houston distribution center

Additional 201 workers being laid off from Forth Worth distribution center

HOUSTON – Kellogg's will close its distribution center in Houston and begin laying off 220 employees.

An additional 201 workers are being laid off from a distribution center in Forth Worth.

KPRC 2 first reported about the Kellogg's closures in February.

The layoffs stem from the company's decision to stop direct store delivery of its U.S. snacks business in favor of a warehouse model.

"While this is the right move for the company to achieve our long-term objectives, it was a difficult decision because of its impact on employees," company spokesperson Kris Charles said.
