Zoo animals cheer up children at Texas Medical Center

HOUSTON – The MD Anderson Cancer Center had some special visitors Wednesday.

Zoo animals made their way to the Texas Medical Center.

The animals included an Eastern screech owl, a Madagascar tenrec and a North American porcupine.

The event kicks off the launch of the San Diego Zoo Kids Channel -- a closed circuit channel designed so pediatric patients can experience zoo animals from around the world from their hospital beds.

The San Diego Zoo Kids Channel will be available on TV monitors in every patient room, staff access areas and waiting areas of the hospital.
