Wrong-way motorcyclist killed in crash on Katy Freeway near downtown

HOUSTON – A motorcyclist, who was traveling the wrong way on the Katy Freeway Friday, was killed in a crash, police said.

According to investigators, several witnesses called police around 3 a.m. after they saw a man on a Harley Davidson motorcycle riding the wrong way along the inbound lanes of Katy Freeway near downtown. Officers also witnessed the wrong-way motorcyclist, police said.

Investigators said a woman driving a Volkswagen Passat slammed into the rider, killing him.

The driver was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Police said she did not show any signs of  intoxication. 

The passenger in the car was not injured.
