Houston mom gets Mother's Day makeover

HOUSTON – Mother's Day is the one day of the year that is dedicated to pampering moms.

As part of military appreciation month, Houston mother Rebecca Escobedo was nominated for a Mother's Day makeover by the Lone Star Veterans Association to acknowledge her for her work and dedication.

Rebecca helped start a group that offers support to spouses and partners of military members.

Rebecca's husband, Bryan, served three deployments in Iraq with the Marines. She said being said it's one of the hardest parts about being a military wife and mother.

"Never knowing what can happen to your loved one at any moment. There were weeks on end when I would not be able to hear Bryan's voice or know how he was doing," Rebecca said.

Shortly after Bryan came home, the two were married, and Rebecca later found out she was pregnant.

During her second pregnancy, Rebecca was bedridden for quite some time after doctors discovered a life-threatening blood clot.

"When I was in the hospital I thought about my husband, my babies, my family, my husband's beautiful family. If something was going to happen to me, I thought about what I would take with me. I would take them with me," Rebecca said.

Rebecca gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Doctors soon gave her a clean bill of health, and she was able to continue her work helping other military families in the Houston area.

Channel 2 wanted to show our appreciation with a Mother's Day makeover!

Hair stylist Trey Gillen of Maison Luisant in Highland Village spearheaded the transformation, complete with hair color, highlights, cut and style.

Ziba Mohammadi, nail technician at Maison Luisant, pampered our mom with a beautiful manicure.

Makeup artist Cori Aston beautified Rebecca with an amazing makeup session and Marlo Miller of Marlo Miller Boutique provided the fashion to round out the transformation.

"I feel amazing. I don't have to worry about the kids. I just hope all mom's are pampered like this for Mother's Day," Rebecca said.
