Brawl breaks out at Woodson Middle School, officials say

HOUSTON – A Houston Independent School District middle school was placed on secure mode after a fight between several students broke out on the campus' courtyard, HISD officials said.

The incident was reported around 2 p.m. at Woodson Middle School.

Officials said Woodson K-8 Academy was placed on secure mode and the students involved were disciplined.

KPRC2 spoke to a woman who said her daughter was involved in the fight.

“My daughter and her friend were jumped in the cafeteria,” Deandra Moshay said. “I couldn't even tell you how many kids (were involved), and the end result was my daughter is suspended through the end of the year, after I came up here this morning and let them know about the girls saying they were going to hurt my daughter and they told me they'd make sure my child was safe.”

HISD released the following statement:

The matter was handled administratively, and the students involved were disciplined per the HISD Student Code of Conduct. HISD does not tolerate fighting of any kind on our school campuses.
