Improvements planned for Lower Westheimer Corridor

Improvements considered for pedestrian right-of-ways, public transit and more

HOUSTON – Plans are in the works to re-develop the Lower Westheimer Corridor of town.

A capital improvement plan, spearheaded by ReBuild Houston, entails improvements along Elgin Street from Main Street to Bagby Street. Improvements are also slated to take place along with Westheimer Road between Bagby Street and Montrose Boulevard.

The plan includes upgrades to sidewalks and crosswalks. Other improvements for general transportation and public transit are also being considered.

ReBuild Houston has detailed an outline of the plan in a computer-animated simulation posted on YouTube.

Input on the plans is being accepted until May 31, 2017.
