Click2Daily: Saint Arnold Brewing Company oldest craft brewery in Texas

HOUSTON – Saint Arnold Brewing Company, Texas' oldest craft brewery, is located in Houston and has experienced a surge in popularity since it opened in 1994.

Brock Wagner helped found Saint Arnold in the mid-nineties, and chose to open shop in Houston because it was the largest city in the country that didn't already have a microbrewery at the time.

Wagner has been passionate about brewing his own beer for decades.

Saint Arnold has since become one of the most popular craft beers in the city, and has expanded only to Texas and Louisiana.

Wagner has said he wants to maintain the integrity of a craft brewery. His team is somewhat small, they don't invest in grand marketing campaigns, and they have refuted past offers to be bought out by larger beer companies.

They are known for such beers as the Art Car IPA, Weedwacker, Pub Crawl Pale Ale, Fancy Lawnmower and Santo among others, all of which are brewed year round.

Saint Arnold's seasonal beers are equally popular, such as their Christmas Ale and Pumpkinator.

But a visit to the brewery is much more than craft beer. Saint Arnold also serves a lunch special during the week from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. that includes two courses, and of course, beer.
