HOUSTON – When Pamela Gauthier and her husband went out to their Ford F-150 work truck Monday, they knew something was wrong.
They noticed someone had broken into the truck they use to keep their business, Bubba’s Bait Shop, afloat in Highlands in east Harris County.
“Everything was trashed. We had trash all over here,” she said.
She said they took the normal stuff you might expect.
“Stole an iPod. Stole a bunch of change. Stole a TomTom.”
But she said they also left behind a piece of evidence.
“Left their shoe!”
She said just like Cinderella’s slipper, someone left behind one of their black, size 9, Pro Player sandals.
“Looks pretty worn. I was hoping they would come back for it. I wanted to hang it on the front of the building, in front of the camera, and see if they'd come back,” she said.
If they do return, she's ready.
She installed an elaborate security system.
“I have 13 cameras now and they're all over this place. So, if they do come back, they will be on camera,” she said.
She said the issue is bigger than a burglary and a left-behind shoe.
She said she wanted to stop crime in her community.
