Audio reveals fearful 911 call placed before deadly Conroe officer-involved shooting
CONROE, Texas – Officials on Wednesday released the audio of a 911 call that preceded Monday’s deadly officer-involved shooting in Conroe.
Police said they responded about 1:35 p.m. to reports of domestic violence at a home on Hildred Avenue near Thompson Road. They said officers heard a disturbance in the home. They said that when officers entered the home a woman ran out of the home and away from the scene.
Officers confronted Joseph Alain, 25, who pointed a gun at them, police said. They said an officer shot Alain twice, killing him.
A 5-year-old boy and the body of Denise Russell, 52, were found inside the home, police said. They said Russell died before officers arrived.
Investigators said they believe the boy is the son of the woman who fled the scene and the grandson of Russell.
In audio of a 911 call, a woman who said she is Russell’s daughter tells dispatchers that Alain, her ex-boyfriend, is attacking her mother.
“I can hear screaming and (violence),” the caller said. “I’m hiding in a closet right now. I’m too scared to go out. My mom, my mom might be in danger.”
The dispatcher asked the woman if she saw Alain with any weapons.
“Uh, no,” the caller replied. “I can like hear beating and stuff going around. He just randomly showed up at my parents’ house.”
After several seconds, the dispatcher asked the caller if she can still hear the fight.
“Nothing now, but it would be safe to have a police over here,” the caller said. “I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
The call ended several seconds later.
