Walmart rolls out food mashup product: Meet the crotilla

HOUSTON – Move over, cronut: the crotilla (pronounced crow-TEE-ah) is making its move onto bakery shelves at Walmart stores across the country.

The confection -- part croissant, part flour tortilla -- is hailed by Walmart’s marketing arm as “destined to be the biggest mashup since ‘Sharknado,’ the fauxhawk and the Labradoodle.”

Marketside crotillas are sold in boxes of eight for $4.18. Each crotilla is 260 calories. The crotillas are available only in stores.

Walmart hailed the day as National Crotilla Day, and shared a Facebook Live presentation on ways to eat their new product for almost every meal.
