Houston schools among top 100 in nation

U.S. News & World Report releases rankings

HOUSTON – Several Houston area high schools made U.S. News & World Report's list of the best high schools in the nation.

Among schools in the Houston Independent School District, Carnegie Vanguard High School came in eighth in national rankings.

DeBakey High School for Health Professions ranked 18th nationally, while Challenge Early College High School came in 69th.

U.S. News & World Report determines the rankings based on several factors, including reading and math results for students on each state's proficiency tests, the school's AP participation rate and how well students did on those tests.
