Surveillance video released of man suspected of shooting woman during purse snatching

HOUSTON – A Houston woman is recovering in the hospital after a man stole her purse and shot her in the leg before he ran away, police say.

The Houston Police Department says the shooting happened on April 10 around 7:30 p.m. in a parking lot at the Casa Nube Apartments at 9700 Court Glen Dr. near Bissonnet Street.

Police say she was leaving her car when she was approached by a man with a gun.

Police say the man took her purse, and at some point, they say he shot the woman and got away with her purse.

The woman was wounded in the leg and transported to Southwest Memorial, where she was listed in serious, but stable, condition.

She was expected to recover from her wound.

However, police are still trying to find the robber who shot her.

The robber is described as a black man between 20-30 years old. Police said he is about 6 feet, 3 inches tall and about 150-170 pounds, with black hair and black eyes. He was wearing a purple coat and black shorts at the time of the incident.

Crime Stoppers and the Houston Police Department’s Robbery Division is asking for the public's assistance identifying the man responsible for the aggravated robbery/shooting with a deadly weapon.
