Search on for person who robbed Porter bank, Montgomery County deputies say

Witnesses tell deputies robber rode bicycle to Amegy Bank

PORTER, Texas – The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is searching for a person who robbed a bank in Porter.

Deputies were dispatched at 9:40 a.m. Friday to the Amegy Bank in the 23500 block of Commerce Drive.

The Sheriff's Office said witnesses saw the robber ride a bicycle to the bank. The robber entered the bank with his face partially covered with a ball cap and a rag while wearing gloves.

The robber approached the teller counter and demanded money while holding his hand inside his pocket, appearing to have a weapon, the Sheriff's Office said.

The teller complied and gave the robber an unspecified amount of money. The Sheriff's Office said the robber left on the bicycle, which was found dumped nearby.

Detectives checked nearby video surveillance footage from businesses in the area. They believe the robber may have left the area in a dark-colored Ford Explorer (pictured, above), the Sheriff's Office said.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 936-760-5800 or Crime Stoppers at 800-392-STOP (7867).
