Man shot to death by his girlfriend during domestic disturbance in NE Harris County

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A man is dead after his girlfriend shot and killed him Friday evening, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Sgt. Robert Spurgeon said the shooting was reported near 10122 Piave Drive around 6:35 p.m.

Investigators said a boyfriend and girlfriend were involved in a domestic dispute when the 24-year-old woman shot the 25-year-old man, authorities said.

They said she shot the man with a handgun inside their home.

A witness said she went outside to smoke a cigarette when she heard people yelling, "She shot him."

“Assessed the situation, realized the gun was not outside," explained Correne Blanchard, who lives across the street. “I ran inside and got a towel, ran back outside and held the towel to his wound until the ambulance came.”

The man was lying in grass in front of a residence, according to the witness. He was bleeding profusely, according to witness accounts.

Deputies said the man was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

At the scene, deputies had the girlfriend in custody and collected evidence like gun residue from her. They later transported her to the station for questioning. Deputies do not know at this time what the dispute was about or what led up to it.

Witnesses told KPRC that the man and woman had only lived in the home for a few weeks and that they saw them come and go sometimes.

KPRC will provide updates when they become available.
