Ironman Texas Triathlon: Road closures you'll want to know about this weekend

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas Triathlon is coming back to The Woodlands on Saturday.

Thousands of competitors will be swimming 2.4 miles, biking 112 miles and then running a full marathon, which is 26.2 miles, in one of the most grueling endurance events in the world.  Starting at 7 a.m. on race day there will be rolling street closures to make way for participants and spectators.

The majority of road closures will be associated with the bike course. They will affect parts of The Woodlands and Spring. The main closures will be along parts of The Woodlands Parkway, Grogan's Mill Road, Sawdust Road and much of the Hardy Toll Road.  The rolling closures on the bike course will begin at 7 a.m. Saturday morning and are expected to last through the late afternoon.

Road closures along the marathon route will be confined to areas immediately surrounding The Woodlands Waterway and Lake Woodlands.  The roads include Lake Woodlands Drive, Panther Creek Drive, Woodlands Parkway, Lake Front Circle, East Shore Drive, Majesty Row, Timberloch, Woodloch Forest and Lake Robbins Drive.  These closures will begin Saturday morning at 11 a.m. and will continue well into the evening, to as late as 11 p.m.
