New Caney teen will be tried on murder charge after deadly drug deal

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – The Montgomery County court has decided formally charge a 17-year-old with murder on Tuesday after police said he was involved in a fatal shooting during a drug deal.

Detectives said Nicholas Andrew Valverde met with Jessie Collins, 19, and Joshua Raymond Foland, 20, to purchase narcotics from Collins on  Jan. 14 in the 25000 block of Lantern Lane in New Caney.

Detectives believe that during the drug deal, Valverde shot Foland to death, according to court documents. 

Valverde was arrested Jan. 19.
