Special prosecutor appointed to deputy Goforth's murder case

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – There have been some new developments in the case of Shannon Miles -- the man accused in the murder of deputy Darren Goforth.

Montgomery County District Attorney Brett Ligon is the special prosecutor appointed to try the case.

Earlier this month, Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg filed a motion to recuse her office from prosecuting Miles' case.

Defense attorney Anthony Osso is hoping the prosecution will be prepared.

Ligon says he and his team are now gathering the resources to take on the case.

The next court setting will be in September.
