2 jailed inmates left in van for 10 hours; 2 detention officers removed from duties
HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Two detention officers have been permanently removed from inmate transport duties after they failed to remove two jailed inmates from a transport van on April 2, according to a release from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
The two inmates were left unattended in the van for 10 hours, authorities said.

"The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an incident in which detention officers failed to remove two jail inmates from a transport van on April 2, 2017. The two inmates remained unattended inside the van for 10 hours. The incident was immediately reported to the Texas Commission on Jail Standards. Two detention officers have been permanently removed from inmate transport duties and the investigative findings will be presented to the Administrative Disciplinary Committee upon completion."
