Boy struck by truck at west Houston apartment complex dies, police say

HOUSTON – A 7-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle in the 2300 block of Hayes Road around 7 p.m. Tuesday, according to police.

The child was hit by a white Ford Expedition near an apartment complex while he was on a skateboard, police said.They said he was lying on the skateboard as if surfing, and rolling eastbound on a down ramp into a driveway of the apartment complex parking lot. 

He was taken to the hospital where he died, officials said.

The driver of the Expedition remained at the scene and police determined he was not impaired or driving in an unsafe manner. He was questioned and released.
