Truck driver sought in connection with fatal hit-and-run crash

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – Multiple counties are working with the Texas Department of Public Safety to uncover information on a deadly hit-and-run crash.

Two people died in the two-vehicle crash around 7:15 p.m. March 16 on SH 249 near Vallie Street.

A 2006 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was northbound on Tomball Parkway near Vallie Street when the driver of a westbound white Ford extended-cab truck failed to yield the right-of-way as it entered the highway in front of the motorcycle, according to authorities.

Terry Ponder was unable to avoid the collision and struck the Ford in the left rear quarter panel, according to reports.

Ponder, 53, of Magnolia, was taken to a local hospital, where he died from injuries suffered in the crash.

The driver of the Ford left the scene before emergency responders arrived, according to authorities.
