Shots fired at trooper during traffic stop near HWY 6

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Texas Highway Patrol and Texas Rangers arrested two people on Tuesday after troopers said they fired shots at them during a traffic stop. 

Officials said a DPS trooper stopped a northbound 2004 Acura car for a traffic violation on SH-6 Road near Horse Haven lane when someone shot at the trooper. 

The trooper shot back and the driver was taken into custody, officials said. 

A passenger fled in the vehicle and crashed a short distance away. Officials said that man was found in a marshy area behind a business and was taken into custody. 

There were no reported injuries.

Texas Highway Patrol and Texas Rangers are investigating.
