HOUSTON – A woman crossing a southwest Houston street Monday was hit and killed, according to police.
The incident was reported about 6 a.m. near the intersection of Beechnut Street and Leawood Boulevard.

According to Houston police, the woman was crossing the road outside of a crosswalk when she was hit by a truck.
Police said the woman is believed to have been trying to catch a bus.
The driver of the truck will not be charged, police said.
