Driver flees scene after crashing car into house, officials say

HOUSTON – A driver is in custody after police say he slammed a car into the front of a house in Midtown. 

According to police, a man driving a minivan north on Whitney Street allegedly didn’t realize the street ended and he crashed into the front of the house near Bomar Street around 11:30 p.m. Friday.

The crash damaged the front of the house and porch, but no one inside was injured.

When the homeowner heard the crash he went outside to the see the driver backing his car away from the house and fleeing the scene, officials said.

Police said they found the driver 30 minutes later.
