Former YMCA instructor charged with online solicitation of minor
TOMBALL, Texas – A former YMCA instructor was arrested and charged with online solicitation of a minor Wednesday, according to Tomball police.
Police said they received a tip that Matthew Thibodeaux, 32, was headed to a location in Tomball to meet with two juveniles for sex acts. When police officers arrived, they said they found Thibodeaux's car and him in the park. Police said when they approached him, he fled on foot. After a short pursuit, police said they arrested Thibodeaux.
Thibodeaux is now charged with online solicitation of a minor, a second-degree felony. He is now out on $50,000 bond.
Tomball police said Thibodeaux was employed as an instructor at two YMCA locations in The Woodlands. Investigators said they notified staff at one of the YMCA locations and told them about Thibodeaux’s arrest and charges.
Now, Tomball police are asking anyone with information regarding Thibodeaux and any possible illegal contact with minor children to come forward. Call the Tomball Police Department at 281-351-5451 and ask to speak with Detective Jason Smith.
