1 arrested, 1 on the run after police chase in southwest Houston

Officers are searching for a man who they said led them on a chase in southwest Houston.

Officials said they attempted to pull over a car around 1:30 a.m. Wednesday because its plates were not visible.

The driver fled, leading police from Westpark Drive and Wilcrest Drive to a dead-end at Sela, according to officials.

Officials said that the driver went into a retention pond while the HPD vehicle was stuck in a cable going across the dead-end street. It is unclear how the officer's vehicle was stuck in the cable or how the driver of the other vehicle was able to get around it.

The driver fled on foot, and police arrested a passenger who stayed behind, officials said.

A parameter was set up, and an HPD helicopter and K-9 were called for assistance in the search, but the man was not found, police said.

Officials said they know the name of the man and they will continue to look for him Wednesday.
