HOUSTON – Gone but never forgotten, Houstonians are honoring Capt. William "Iron Bill" Dowling with a new memorial to remember him.
Dowling died last week of injuries he suffered while battling a fire at the Southwest Inn in May 2013.

On Wednesday, the community will also get a chance to honor Dowling at his funeral.
A procession from the funeral home in Tomball to Houston Baptist University will be held at 8:45 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 10 a.m. at the Morris Cultural Arts Center at HBU.
Dowling will then be buried in a private service.
