Missing El Paso children found safe

EL PASO, Texas – An Amber Alert that was issued Friday for two children who went missing in El Paso was canceled after police said they were found safe and the suspect in their disappearance was in custody.

Authorities said in the alert that Ashley Michelle Estrada, 9, Brandon Jesus Estrada, 10, and their mother Brenda Estrada were taken by 29-year-old Miguel Mendez.

El Paso police said that Mendez, who is the boyfriend of Brenda Estrada, abducted the family Thursday at gunpoint.

On Friday morning, police said that the Estradas were found safe and that Mendez was in custody.

Further details were not immediately released.
