Pair arrested after high-speed chase, bank robbery due in court
HOUSTON – Two men who were arrested last week after a bank robbery and a high-speed chase that followed appeared Thursday in federal court.
Christopher Bishop, 34, and Travis Drain, 30, were each charged with bank robbery.
Police said the pair robbed the Amegy Bank on Bissonnet Street in Bellaire on March 3. A person at the bank called police with a description of the getaway car.
Officers found the car on Main Street and a half-hour chase began, police said.
The chase ended on Enid Street when the pair jumped out of the smoking car, police said.
Video from Carlos Mora and his son, Jose, who were on Enid Street, showed that Bishop tried to carjack them. Jose Mora confronted Bishop and pushed him away, police said. Video from Sky 2 showed Bishop taking a swing a Jose Mora, who was trying to tackle him, before police moved in to arrest him.
Drain, who fled the scene, was arrested in a nearby yard, police said.
Police said Bishop and Drain, who are from the Memphis, Tennessee, area, might also be connected to other bank robberies.
A judge ruled Thursday the pair will be held in jail without bond.
