HOUSTON – A man was hit by a tow truck Thursday along the North Freeway.
Police said the man was walking across the southbound lanes of I-45 near I-610 around 4:45 a.m. The driver swerved to avoid the man, but his driver's side mirror hit him, police said.
The man was thrown several feet. He was thrown so hard his shoes came off, police said.
He was taken to a hospital with a possible broken leg.
The tow truck driver will not face charges.
I-45 south was closed down to one lane in the area as police investigated, but reopened just after 6 a.m.
