HOUSTON – Rappers Paul Wall and Baby Bash were in court Thursday for a hearing related to their arrests on drug charges last year.
Wall, whose real name is Paul Michael Slayton, 35, and Bash, whose real name is Ronald Ray Bryant, 47, were arrested with eight other people during a raid Dec. 23, Houston police said.
Wall and Bash were both charged with manufacturing and delivering a controlled substance between 4 and 400 grams. According to court documents, the substance was tetrahydrocannabinol, more commonly known as THC, the active ingredient in marijuana.
Bash said the arrests happened during a “gathering of the cannabis community.” He also referred to the gathering as a “smokeout.”
Wall nodded to the cameras as he entered the courtroom Thursday.
Bash folded his hands as he entered and said, “Another day, another reset.”
The pair’s hearing was reset to April.
Bash’s attorney also presented a packet which will be presented to the grand jury when prosecutors present their case.
If convicted, the group could face up to life in prison.
